Fake Crash
Sometimes a character appears that is so ugly, so deformed and weird looking that it becomes almost comically creepy.
Seeing a deformed version of a character you were familiar with is both creepy and funny at the same time, the best examples of which is Weegee and Spengebab. Fake Crash also falls into this category.
It is widely established that Fake Crash is not the same as Evil Crash (featured in Crash: Twinsanity), so his motives, if any, are unclear at best.
Background
Apparently, members of Naughty Dog saw a Crash Bandicoot doll on sale in Japan that was not licensed in any way to the Crash Bandicoot franchise. It was more of a copy of Crash Bandicoot than a licensed product.
In any case, the doll was a very much deformed version of crash. It's eyes looked dull, it had huge eyebrows and it had a severe overbite.
The developers, amused at how ugly this crash doll was, incorporated it in Crash Bandicoot 3.
What is both interesting and disturbing about Fake Crash is that he is placed in random levels at locations which are inaccessible. It is clear that Fake Crash appears in certain levels where you have obtained a platinum relic in time trial mode.
However, it is unclear how he got there or how is he able to travel through time. It is also more ambiguous as to why Fake Crash is placed in those particular levels.
The ambiguity, the deformed and appearance of the character is what makes him seem creepy.
